It doesn’t matter what kind of company you work for. Having good customer service is important. Even if your job isn’t in sales, or it is not in your job description to offer quality service to shoppers. You should keep the mindset, then you should represent the company that you work for, at all times. You should always act accordingly! When I am out in the world, or off the clock, I still represent my company. I always think that the guy I meet may become a customer. This approach works, because making a nice first impression on someone will increase the possibilities of them remembering you when the time comes. I am a Heating plus A/C tech, I wear that hat all day every day, metaphorically. If someone has a question about their cooling system, I will always answer it happily. If they want directions, I will show them directions or write down on the back of one of my company cards. If someone doesn’t need Heating plus A/C help today, they may still need it in the future. I want them to think of my company. Building word of mouth takes a long time, especially with something similar to a Heating plus A/C company, because if you do your job well people don’t need you again for a long time. If I repair your A/C once, I will stand behind my work. I won’t charge you again if it breaks down. This is the sort of word of mouth that will get me a lot of Heating plus A/C customers over time.
