After Dad passed away, Mom used the life insurance money to buy herself a small lake house on a small piece of property.
I asked her why she didn’t get something bigger plus better, she could entirely afford it now, although she told me that she wanted something that she could afford to make her own plus that would be low maintenance in the long run. In other words, Mom didn’t want a immense lake house to keep scrub or anyone asking to stay with her. So she bought this older 1 dining room cottage style fixer upper plus went about making it her own. I realized that this location was Mom’s project, something to keep her occupied now that Dad is gone, so I showed my interest to keep her motivated. Mom had a wonderful time with her new house. She bought all new stainless steel appliances for the dining room plus new fixtures for the lavatory plus then she went about having radiant radiant heated floors installed. I had consistently thought radiant radiant heated floors were a useless extravagance for rich, spoiled people who didn’t prefer their feet getting cold. I didn’t think heated flooring could certainly be used to heat the home. You learn something new every day. And, Mom loves her radiant radiant heated floors. She told me that she has wanted them for years but would have been too overpriced to install in the lake house she shared with Dad, especially knowing that she would sell that lake house some day. So, I’m glad Mom got her radiant radiant heated floors, and now she needs to consider cooling system plus she’s talking about maybe going solar next.
