I recently decided to move farther south.
I grew up in the southern part of my state, which meant I was close to the beach, but I was living in the northern part for over thirty years.
I moved there because my husband wanted to, and even though I got divorced from him, I still lived in the northern part for 15 years after the divorce. One thing I forgot about from my southern days, though, was how much more I need a/c. Don’t get me wrong, I used the a/c all the time while living in the northern section, but my poor a/c down here in the southern half just never shuts off. If you go out in the middle of the night, it’s still 80 degrees. The thermostat setting on the a/c is now 75, even though I prefer 70. It’s just too expensive to keep running the a/c all day and all night. The only problem I really discovered with setting the thermostat higher was that I just couldn’t sleep. At night, I wanted more a/c. In fact, if I could get it to blow right on me, that would have been ideal. I decided that a happy medium would be to go get myself a portable air conditioner or possibly a window a/c unit. I headed out to the home store, and I decided to supplement the central cooling with a small window a/c for my bedroom. It has worked out really well, and I am getting a good night’s sleep every day.
