My brother is doing well for himself.
He lives a couple of hours away and we try to visit him regularly.
He bought himself a big old house on some property and is having great fun updating it and making it his own. He’s done a lot to the place, plus he is always buying a new boy toy, so visiting him is a real treat for both me and my husband. Recently, my brother invested in a geothermal heat pump. I’m not sure how it works but I know that it can be used to both heat and cool my brother’s house. He had part of his yard dug up to have it installed, and at first I thought that was a little extravagant, until I discovered that it’s expected to last fifty years. While my husband and brother were out walking the property so my brother could show off his new toys to my husband, my sister-in-law and I stayed inside and enjoyed that heat pump. She told me that the house is a little slow to heat up and cool off with the new geothermal heat pump, but she admitted that it was worth it. She told me that their electric bills have really shown the efficiency of the geothermal heat pump. My sister-in-law told me that the only real drawback of the geothermal heat pump being slow to heat and cool their home is the spring and fall when the weather is so fickle. They haven’t had the heat pump through a spring yet, but my sister-in-law admits that the slow pump is a bit annoying when the temperatures suddenly drop and the house gets really cold really quick. They are talking about getting radiant heated floors because of this.
