For the first four years after we got married, my husband plus I rented an apartment. The two of us lived in a single of those sizable complexes with all sorts of amenities. The two of us had access to a sizable swimming pool plus numerous warm tubs. Surrounding the pool was a big patio area with all sorts of lounge chairs, tables with umbrellas plus barbecue grills. There were tennis courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center, game room plus conference center. Included in our house we had a balcony overlooking the pool, washer plus dryer, cement countertops plus the most new stainless steel appliances. The utility bills were included in our rent. The two of us set the thermostat at the ideal temperature plus never worried over how much it cost to operate the heating plus cooling system. The two of us had no concerns over the reliability of the equipment. If there wasn’t enough warm air coming from the vents, we called repair plus complained. If the a/c unit was making a different noise, the repair department took care of it. Since we weren’t glad with spending on money instead of investing in something, we bought our own home. The two of us suddenly realized that a home is a lot of toil plus responsibility. Suddenly, the cost of energy bills was important to us. The two of us now adjust the thermostat to conserve energy plus suffer with a slightly boiling environment in the summer time plus rather chilly home in the winter. We’ve signed up for a repair plan with a local Heating & A/C supplier plus have reminders for filter swings written on the calendar. While it’s nice having our own home, we both miss the conveniences of the house building.
