Even so, I am just thrilled to turn that HVAC system off and just rely on Mother Nature for a while
As I sit here at the computer penning this piece, I actually have goosebumps. That is quite rare for this part of the world. Here in the southernmost state of the Union, it is almost always hot. Some people claim we have three seasons here in our state: hot, miserably hot, and get me out of here before I die hot. Well, I don’t know if I would go that far, but I admit that for about 3/4ths of the year, the air conditioner is running. When fall rolls around, though, joy is in the air. I hit that thermostat control button and flip the a/c off and open the back door! I love it when I am able to do that. It is nice to breathe in air that doesn’t come pouring out of the a/c vents, and it doesn’t hurt my feelings any to pay less for my utilities. Even the dog is happier when I turn off the air conditioning because she can go in and out the back door as much as she wants. We are so fortunate to have air conditioning here in the south; in fact, I doubt this state would be nearly as populated if we didn’t have great A/C options. Even so, I am just thrilled to turn that HVAC system off and just rely on Mother Nature for a while. I have noticed that the dog is a bit friskier, and when I was a teacher, the students were always a little more wild in the fall, too. The girls loved to put on boots and sweaters, and I don’t blame them. The joy of opening the door and turning off the a/c is real here in the south!
