Being away from home requires a security system

My job requires me to travel a lot.

I am away on business-related trips more than I am at home.

Although I like this aspect of my job, it causes some difficulties. I have had to hire a service to mow the lawn, plow the driveway and keep up with regular maintenance and responsibilities. I simply don’t have the time. I’ve also invested in a security system to make sure my home is protected whether I’m home or way. It would be very easy for someone to figure out that the place is empty the majority of the time. They could break in through a window or door on the back of the house and have plenty of time to remove valuables or cause damage. I also worried about natural disasters. A tree branch could fall on the roof, the pipes could freeze and burst or the water heater might rupture while I’m away. The security system includes sensors for smoke, moisture, temperature fluctuation, glass breakage and power outages that send text message alerts if there’s a problem. There’s surveillance cameras that provide a real-time view of every angle of the property. From my smartphone, I can watch video, turn lights on and off and lock or unlock doors. This feature is extremely helpful when packages are delivered. I have a neighbor who gets my mail and takes care of deliveries. I simply use my phone to unlock the door for her and then lock it right back up. When I return home, a geofencing feature is aware of my location and automatically opens up the garage door, turns on the lights and makes sure the thermostat is set to a comfortable temperature. The security system is like having a personal assistance and security guard on the premises at all times.
