I really do my best to maintain a bit of balance and reason when it comes to how I react to things in my life.
It takes a lot for me to really lose my cool.
And this is a good thing. I can remember growing up in a house where harsh words and loud voices really hurt. I certainly didn’t want my kids to have to deal with that. So, I try to be very measured when it comes to my response to disappointing behavior. That said, I just lost it over the HVAC the other day. It was something that had been building for some time and I was angry before I could reign in those emotions. The fact is, the kids sort of had it coming. They treat the idea of HVAC heating & coolings as though it’s their right. And it makes me crazy when anyone in my family acts as though they are entitled. The kids jerk the HVAC setting all over the place whether it’s winter or summer. Then say it’s too warm in the house during the winter so someone opens a door. It makes me nuts. But what made me really angry is that my HVAC wishes have not been heard at all. So when I came home early one day to find the sliding glass door wide open, it was on. It was near a hundred degrees outside and the HVAC was running wide open because the door was wide open. Well, my kids eyes are now wide open to just what dad wants when it comes to proper HVAC behavior.
