My home is in one of the coldest parts of our country.
Summer is cool and fleeting unlike those areas where summer lasts for several long months.
I need to have a reliable furnace for eight months a year. Because of the need for a reliable furnace, I make sure I have HVAC service done twice a year. My air filters get changed at least once a month. These two simple things can prevent my furnace from breaking down during a really bad cold spell. The air filter also keeps the dust down in the house and your furnace runs smoother. When the HVAC tech comes out to do the service, checks all the components that are in the HVAC system. He also makes sure there are no worn parts, and if there are, they are replaced at that time. I have heard a lot of people complain about the cost of having the maintenance done. I think the cost of HVAC maintenance is much cheaper than paying for service calls and possibly going with heating during the winter. I know how tough our winters are on the furnace. By having the maintenance done, I eliminate some of the worrying of going without a furnace. When I add in having the ductwork cleaned along with the maintenance and changing of air filters, I know that I am doing all I can to keep us warm all winter. If anything happens to the furnace, I know that I have done all I can and I have peace of mind with that knowledge.
