I was really happy when our father decided to buy a cabin for family vacations. That old cabin became something to be proud of honestly. I always loved the fireplace from the first moment we used it. I was always eager to get outside, cut down trees and split firewood. The land was filled with woods and we owned a good portion of the land, so we basically had enough wood to last us forever. The cabin also came with an oil furnace though which was very costly to have refilled all the time. We had to keep the heating system running on a minimal setting to keep the piping in the cabin from freezing. We were hooked up to a well so we could have showers and running water in general. Eventually, I told my dad he should consider hooking up a ductless mini split system. I said how it would definitely be enough to provide heating to the cabin and we could hook it up to solar panels. While we were surrounded by trees, the cabin had a good opening and there was plenty of sunshine which I realized would be perfect for solar panels. My father actually thought it was a great idea. He said he was tired of having to call the HVAC company to travel way out there to refill the oil furnace all the time and a ductless mini split would save us a lot of money. So we had everything installed and the comfort in the cabin was so much better after that. The solar panels are great too and cover all our electric needs in the house. We have even been able to watch satellite television since getting the solar panels, so it’s actually very relaxing to hang out at the cabin and I hang out there even to this day with friends and family.
