BOGO gift cards are too good to be true

I saw a commercial on cable for a local HVAC repair corporation. I was watching football on wednesday night and the commercial right after the halftime report, was a HVAC repair corporation offering gift cards for the winter holiday. The HVAC repair corporation was having a special holiday sale, but every gift card purchased came with a free gift card for the same amount. There was a disclaimer on the bottom, however the words were too small to read. I called the HVAC repair corporation because I was curious about the sale. The guy on the phone told me more information and I began to realize that the sale was absolutely too nice to be true. The gift cards had to be used for a purchase over $500 and the gift cards had to be used by the same guy. I couldn’t buy $150 worth of gift cards for myself and others & then provide our parents $150 worth of gift cards as well, then after hearing all of the stipulations and restrictions. I suddenly decided that HVAC repair shop gift cards were not a really nice system for a holiday gift. It would have been useful if I could have combined some of the discounts, however that was not the case. I still do not know what kind of gift I am going to get for my mom for Christmas. I legitimately thought this could be a practical gift since my mom has an older HVAC system. I suppose I need to keep searching for the perfect holiday surprise.
