Too dumb for smart products

I decided to add all smart equipment to my home.

I got security cameras, a door bell, smoke detector and a thermostat that are all smart products.

They all are on the smart app that I can run on my phone, computer and ipad. In theory, this should be an amazing thing. I am supposed to be able to set weekly programs for each thing. I can get alerts on issues. The cameras let me know when there is movement. The doorbell shows a real time image of someone on my front step. The smoke detector lets me know when it detects heat. My smart thermostat should tell me about humidity issues, air quality concerns, air filter changes or inefficient HVAC settings. The problem is that I am too dubm for my smart products. It took me forever to download the app and get all my products on there. Now organizing timed programs has been an issue. I never know what system is alerting me and what to do. I frequently have my smart thermostat set at 90 degrees and then have to frantically mess with it. I seem to either have it severely heating or totally turned off. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. My doorbell camera even alerts me when there is a squirrel running on my front porch. The smoke detector keeps asking me to test it when I walk by. I kind of want to rip everything down and go with a basic model. I should be able to do this though. I should be able to save money and have more security with these products. The key word is should though.
