I remember when air conditioning was slow to change.
When I was a kid, there was pretty much only one kind of a/c, and that was window air conditioners.
I remember when we got our first window a/c unit, and it was amazing! We all gathered around it like we did our fireplace in the winter, and we just loved the cooling effect. A long time later, we learned about central heating and cooling. It took a long time, but we eventually replaced the window air conditioners with a central air conditioning system. It was incredible to us kids because we could just go about our normal lives nnd be coolut having to cram together in front of the tiny a/c blower. The series of ducts and a/c air vents seemed ingenious to me, and actually it still amazes me that some person with a regular brain thought of it. NOw, though, regular old central heating and cooling has been replaced by HVAC with zone control. Heating and cooling that comes with zones is all the rage, but in fact, there is a lot of other HVAC technology that has improved energy efficiency and comfort levels, as well. Anyway, I am now flabbergasted by this zoning system. My brothers both have HVAC with zone control in their respective houses. They use one HVAC unit, but the ductwork has something called dampers. The dampers are set up to have different zones, and they can adjust the thermostat settings to different temperatures for the different areas. It’s amazing, and I am sure one day HVAC technology will improve so much more, that it will seem old school.
