Had to focus on a new cooling install after our first winter in this house

I felt like I was in a maze in our new house when we first bought the place.

  • The house is very huge and is hooked up to a boiler system for heating purposes.

Unfortunately, a good central cooling system was non-existent. There were only window AC units in different windows. I knew that was a situation that we would have to remedy with a central cooling install. We made it through our first winter with no issues. Actually the boiler system worked great and it was more energy efficient than I expected. I thought the gas bills would be outrageous, but they weren’t. As soon as we got into the spring season, I made arrangements to have the cooling install taken care of. We had an HVAC expert for a free consultation. The guy was great and told us about different types of cooling systems including central cooling units, ductless mini split AC units, and even radiant cooling systems which are interesting. Since the house is very large, I decided that it would be good to have some sort of zoned cooling system, so I went for the ductless multi split AC system which covers the whole house with customized temperature control settings. The beautiful thing about this system is that it can also be upgraded to provide heating as well. I realize that we would have two different heating systems if we went that route, but why would you not want to have a solid backup heating system for when you really need it? I would hate to be stuck in the cold of the winter with my heating system failing and no backup.
